Function and Light

This Midcentury brick home, situated in a quiet neighborhood, was lacking the functionality this busy family needed. Focusing on function and increasing natural light, we opened up the once cramped, dark kitchen and created an airy space with modern aesthetics for a family who loves to cook, read and play board games together.

We extended the back of the home to create a larger, simple and efficient kitchen and dining room. Working around the existing chimney we also extended the front of the home to add a much needed entryway and a new primary bedroom and bathroom. We took advantage of the existing soffit to create a lovely window seat – perfect for curling up with a book in the warm evening light.
